Homoeopathy is a dynamic therapy which is based on natural laws of healing: - THE LAW OF SIMILARS (similia similibus curentur), or "like cures like". The name Homoeopathy comes from the Greek words 'homois'
(similar) and 'pathos' (suffering). Over 200 years ago, Samuel
Hahnemann, a German physician, chemist and scholar, discovered that a
substance (medicine) that could cause symptoms in a healthy person
could cure the same symptoms in a sick person. Over the ages
people have used this law of nature with to turn sickness into
health. The earliest written references that we know of come from
Hippocrates the 'father of Western medicine'. Others have mentioned
their observations of the same phenomena but until Dr. Samuel
Hahnemann, no one had systematically and scientifically experimented
with it. Dr. Hahnemann spent 53 years of his life establishing and
refining homoeopathic medicine. Mainstream medicine works in an allopathic way, treating
with 'opposites, e.g, diarrhoea is treated with a medicine that would
cause constipation in a healthy person. This sounds logical but the
world of energy medicine is based on different phenomena. The
difficulty in our time and with our modern education is that many
people have trouble understanding anything which is not presented to
their perception in a way that is basically materialistic. - THE USE OF THE SINGLE REMEDY. It takes great skill and training for the classical homoeopath to prescribe the remedy required in a person's case. Only one remedy, which covers the totality of the patient's symptoms, is used at a time. The Law of Similars precludes the use of the single remedy
simply
because there can't be two things most similar at the same time. The
use of one remedy at a time that has been selected according to the law
of similars is what is known as Classical homoeopathy. There are people
who call themselves homoeopaths or who have 'homoeopathy' listed on
their CV
who give many different remedies together, and include other therapies
at the same time. These people do not understand what the law of
similars means. Use of the single remedy does not mean only one
remedy ever is used in the patient's case, but rather that one remedy
is used at a
time. Time is allowed for the person's life force to change from
sickness
to greater health before repeating the remedy or choosing another
remedy as necessary. In an acute illness the remedy maybe changed more
frequently than in chronic illness. A trained classical homoeopath will
know when to repeat the dose, change the potency or change the remedy. Although

that deliberately works with the law of similars. - THE MINIMUM DOSE. Homoeopathy uses very small doses of the indicated remedy.
It is very gentle, non-toxic, without side effects and works by
stimulating the body's own healing forces.. It is suitable for all
ages. There is no suppression of symptoms, only safe, natural healing. Fore-mostly, homoeopathy is a deliberate manipulation of
Life Energy by use of dynamic remedies for the purpose of enabling the
sluggish, unhealthy, disturbed life force of an individual human or
animal to flow and circulate through their systems with greater ease
and vigour. Our health comes from this free circulation of life force
and the beginnings of sickness arise from the loss of vitality on this
very fundamental level of Life. After years of study and experience
with treating patients according to the law of similars and gradually
reducing (by dilution and succussion in progressive stages) the
material doses he prescribed until he was making medicines that had no
more measurable material matter in them, Dr. Hahnemann began to
understand that therapy was a matter of energy manipulation and good
health meant good life force flow. He began to see that the life force
of a medical substance (medicine or remedy) when applied according to
the law of similars, cured his patients of serious acute epidemic
sicknesses, and even chronic illnesses even when using such
infinitesimal amounts. see article link ' a so-called "non-scientific" way of perceiving the question of health and sickness. - PROVINGS ON THE HEALTHY. Homoeopathic medicines have not been tested on animals but
rather on healthy human volunteers. In this way it is possible to
ascertain detailed symptoms caused by the substance being tested. A
substance
is not considered fully tested until it reveals symptoms on
all levels of human
experience - physical - emotional -
mental. This is more logical than
testing medicines on animals. When one thinks that each species differs
from another physiologically, how can the gross physical results of
drug tests on rats, guinea pigs, cats, dogs, monkeys etc. reliably
apply to human physiology? Human testers are able to give detailed
responses on every level of experience; changes in emotions, mental
ability, exact location and type of physical sensations like pain,
tinglings, sounds, temperature etc. By using human data we know what
symptoms a given drug is capable of causing and by way of the law of
similars, what it cures. see article Side effects of prescription and recreational drugs - HERING'S LAW OF CURE One of Dr. Hahnemann's contemporaries was Dr. Constantine
Hering (1800-1880). He was an experienced physician who confirmed and
defined what is known to homoeopaths as the Law of the direction of
Cure, or Hering's law. This is a yardstick by which any therapy can be
measured and is invaluable to the understanding of the true
status of a person's health. To understand this law one must know that a person is first
and foremost sick in his or her life force. Even before the offending
microorganism has appeared, the susceptibility in
the person was there. By the end of his life Pasteur acknowledged that
the micro-organism was not the primary cause of illness. Rather it
affected certain individuals who were unwell on subtle levels to begin
with. From the homoeopathic point of view, the individuals were
weak/disturbed in their life force which made the physical cell matter
less capable of resisting the microbe. When a therapy is successful, real cure always begins from
the centre outwards. The freeing up of Life force or Energy flow is the
beginning of cure. The individual feels better in his or her very
core; spiritually, mentally, emotionally, even before the physical
symptoms are cured. The rise in energy is a sign that the remedy is
working. Physically the cure begins with the function of the most
important vital
organs improving first and progresses to less important peripheral
organs. This is not to say that an organ like the skin is not
important. A disturbance in the innermost person may be expressed by
the development of an eruption on the surface of the skin. It is just
that the central nervous system, circulatory system, endocrine system
etc,
will benefit first and only later will one see results on the skin.
Symptoms are also cured from the most recent to affect the patient to
the most remote time
wise. It's like unwrapping an onion, one layer at a time. Symptoms
disappear from within to out and from head to feet. Removal of symptoms without due regard for the law of cure
is a foolish and frequently a dangerous practice. It results in
suppression of symptoms without curing the underlying illness in the
life force. The life force will keep trying to express its illness at
the most peripheral area where it is least dangerous to life, but
eventually, with continued suppressive therapy it will be forced to
give
up its efforts and the illness settles on a less peripheral area,
either
in the body or in the mind. A "new" illness that appears after
suppression of symptoms is not a different unrelated illness at all, it
is the uncured distrubance finding a deeper level of expression. So an
individual becomes sicker on more
serious levels and requires more and more drugs. Unfortunately
suppression of symptoms is is
all
too common in mainstream medicine. Removal of symptoms with due regard
for the Law of Similars results in a curative process that can be
monitored reliably following Hering's law. Article on: The importance of patient
understanding of Hering's law of the direction of cure. |
